The book limns, through Si’s eyes, old New York in painstaking detail. Dissatisfied with his circumstances, he agrees, and soon is back in 1882 New York, trying to solve a mystery suggested by his friend Kate. Si Morley is recruited as a subject, and he must agree to abandon his current life with no questions asked even before finding out what the project is. This science fiction novel, purportedly a “classic” published in 1970, describes a secret government project to travel back through time using mentation only. ![]()
